The Phantom Issue 1995 released in April 2025 features chapter 9 of the Vietnam series 'If I can dream of a better land...", written and drawn by Paul, assistant edits by Amanda Bacchi, and edited by Glenn Ford. This is a great jumping on point if you haven't read the series before:

"CIA Case Officer Leon Gross is getting pressure from the White House to find the Mac-V Ghost as the Watergate trials commence. However, his efforts seem hampered by haphazard record keeping. We find ourselves heading back to before the first story, learning more about what drew the Phantom to Vietnam in the first place, the legacy of the Phantom in the region, and the sacrifices made in order to maintain peace in his home."

The Phantom Issue 1996 released in May 2025 features chapter 10 of the Vietnam series, "Going Up the Country..." written and drawn by Paul, assistant edits by Amanda Bacchi, and edited by Glenn Ford. This issue features a very unlikely team up of classic King Features characters...sort of ;P :

"Diana's Uncle Dave, former Military Intelligence, has figured out a way into Vietnam for Kit Walker aka the Phantom; travelling down the Mekong River in a PBR. This boat however is captained by an old friend of Dave's, but will the two see "eye to eye"? What dangers lurk in the jungles of Cambodia in late 1967?"

The Phantom Issue 1998 released in June 2025 features chapter 11 of the Vietnam series "Purple Haze", written and drawn by Paul, assistant edits by Amanda Bacchi, and edited by Glenn Ford. This issue features a story that ties in with the classic Falk/McCoy daily story "The Masked Marvel" from 1948, and Paul's story in The Phantom #1925 (2022):

"Retired former Heavyweight Boxing Champion Kid Hercules laments past decisions and lost opportunities while drowning his sorrows on a USO tour in Vietnam. After witnessing some rowdy Green Berets in the USO Saigon bar, the boxer and former marine finds himself outnumbered in a street fight, but living his glory days imagining boxing once against the mysterious 'Masked Marvel'..."

And Chapter 2 of The Phantom: Fury, by Amanda Bacchi and Paul Mason was published in colour in the historic bumper-sized The Phantom issue 2000, released in June 2025, featuring cover by Daniel Picciotto and alternative cover by Glenn Ford. It's rare in the world of comics to have a continuous, ongoing series with a single character reach such a high number without interruption, and particularly rare for an Australian comic. Amanda and Paul's story follows on from part 1 in The Phantom issue 1947 from 2023:

"1914, Southwest Queensland, Australia. Julie Walker, now older, continues to reflect on the events that brought her to hunting Singh pirates, while surrounded by the very men she vowed to eradicate."

The issue is 228 pages, and also includes a mix of classic Lee Falk, Ray Moore and Wilson McCoy stories in colour, as well as new stories by Australian writer Julie Ditrich, with Wendell Cavalcanti, Pidde Andersson and Giancarlo Carracuzzo, Tony DePaul and Bret Blevins, The back cover also includes Frew's stable of characters, and a first peek at Amanda and Paul's new Frew character; Frew's first in over 50 years. More soon.

Additionally, The Phantom Pholio collection #10 was also released this month, featuring limited and signed collection of high quality A3 colour prints illustrated by Frew Phantom artists. Each illustration is numbered /100, and features various "Friends of The Phantom". Paul's image includes the classic Lee Falk character Captain Byron, who featured in the daily strip 'The inexorables' aka 'The Phantom goes to War', as well as the Jim Shepard/Glenn Ford Australian story 'The Search for Byron'.

Previous contributions by Paul can be found in Pholio #9, featuring classic villains, and Pholio #8, featuring different Generations of The Phantom.

All comics can be found online at Frew Publications. A big thanks to editor and art director Glenn Ford, publisher Dudley Hogath, director Rene White and the Frew Crew staff for all of their help and support.
